FAQ

Questions about a roof? Ridgeline Roofing Company has answers!

A roof if a big investment – whether you are repairing an area of damage, are building a brand new building or are replacing a roof that has reached age of service.

Why are there streaks on my roof?

Streaks on your roof generally appear after about 5 years and in areas that receive less sunlight. The streaks are caused by algae that absorb moisture sitting on your roof. Fortunately, this problem is strictly an aesthetic one and will not affect the life or quality of your roof.

Do I need to completely replace my roof if it has leaks?

Leaks do not necessarily mean you should replace your roof entirely. You may need to replace whichever loose flashings are causing the leak unless you have major irreversible roof damage that would require a complete overhaul.

How will I know when it’s time to replace my roof?

Roofs have a lifespan of about 20 years give or take and may last even longer if you take good care of it. Some tell-all signs that your roof needs to be replaced are leaks or other water damage and curled or broken shingles. Call us if you are experiencing these problems!

Can I do roof repair work myself?

The short answer is no. Roofing should not be considered a DIY sort of task since there are safety risks involved. Professional roofers must abide by OSHA safety procedures. And falls from roofs is still the number one cause of death in construction-related accidental deaths. As an untrained roofer, you have a better chance of damaging your roof when attempting to repair it. However, looking for damaged shingles, cleaning gutters, and spending time searching for leaks in your attic are all great ways to take care of your roof yourself.

Does Insurance Cover My Roof Damage/Repair/Replacement

It might! Most homeowners and business owners have never actually made a claim for coverage with their insurance company. Repairing or replacing your roof may be a first claim. Ridgeline Roofing Company will work closely with you to initiate an insurance claim if we find that your roof is likely damaged from events that are covered by insurance.

We have professional relationships with the insurance adjusters with many major insurance companies and will work with them to secure reimbursement paid directly to you or to pay us directly for the cost of your roof repair or replacement. Once we have completed our inspection, we can help you make contact with your insurance agent to start the claims process if it is appropriate.

Ridgeline Roofing Company is the team you can trust to be honest as we assess your roof to recommend any repairs or the need for a new roof. If maintenance is needed, we will tell you and explain how the repairs will be made and work with you on identifying the material we will use. If your roof actually needs to be replaced, we will tell you that, also.

We will assist you with selecting the roofing shingles and styles that will increase your curb appeal, meet any community or neighborhood standards and stay inside the budget. Regardless of the warranty on the shingles and materials we use, Ridgeline Roofing Company warranties the work of installers for five years.

“After a hailstorm (which seems to have damaged every house in quite a large area) we were inundated with approaches from all sorts of roofing companies to inspect the roof and fix whatever was broken. Brian was the only one who showed up and handed over a packet with a copy of their liability policy within. He even arranged to have a Ridgeline representative present to walk through the inspection with our insurance company adjuster.” – Ridgeline Customer
